ELISA
An Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is a protein identification test. ELISA uses the extremely specific binding capacity of antibodies to identify proteins of interest. This protocol requires you to purchase expensive pre-prepared ELISA plates, there is currently no way to DIY your way around this. Even the more DIY options require the purchase of custom reagents and plates.
The concept of an ELISA is extremely versatile - you can use antibodies in multiple different configurations in order to qualitatively identify your protein, or even quantitatively determine its yield. Before we dive into the different types of ELISA experiment that can be set up, lets explain some of the jargon this protocol presents;
